Can you improve your credit score sufficiently to buy a house?

Is your credit score keeping you from buying a house?
You can improve your credit score over time, once you know how the system works.
Derogatory items and errors can lower your credit score, as well as unpaid collection accounts and accounts you may have co-signed for. Further, most consumers do not realize that just adding new, good credit lines to your credit profile alone can be enough to get you to qualify for a mortgage, once these items are reported to the major bureaus for a sufficient amount of time.
Also, the credit scoring requirements for some government mortgage programs are lower than those of conventional mortgages so make sure you investigate all of the currently available mortgage programs. As a Certified Mortgage Planner with Accutrust Mortgage, I can review all of your options with programs like: RI Housing, MA Housing, CT Housing, USDA, VA, FHA, 203K Rehab, Conventional, Jumbo or even a Reverse Mortgage.

Facts and Legalities:

If you visit the Federal Trade Commission Web Site:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre13.shtm

It explains the problems and risks associated with hiring a “credit repair” agency.
You need to know that as a mortgage broker, we are not allowed to charge you for such a service, nor are we representing ourselves as offering credit repair. We can however, assist you in ordering credit report updates through the intermediary credit reporting companies that serve the mortgage industry.
